Try this 11.7-km out-and-back trail near Somerset West, Western Cape. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 5 h 56 min to complete. This is a popular trail for hiking, running, and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are October through May. You’ll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren’t allowed on this trail. The rich natural environment of the Helderberg Nature Reserve is home to a wide variety of plant and animal life. This trail is very beautiful, with a comfortable surface to walk on. If one needs a quick break away, or something to do with the family this is a really good option. There are wonderful views of Gordon’s Bay and surrounds.
